Mars liquid water to drink with your eyes, dangerous asteroids to taste, fantastic animals and scientists as neighbors.

You are all invited, on September 28, in 34 Italian cities, throughout the day until midnight. What should i bring? Only questions, of all kinds and without reservation, it only happens once a year.

You are invited to the European Researchers' Night 2018 simultaneously in 27 European countries and with BEES (BE to Citizen Scientist), the project coordinated by Frascati Science, in 34 Italian cities to give life to hundreds of events designed to touch the world of research and its protagonists.

European Researchers' Night 2018: who you can meet

The initiatives, along much of Italy, from Piedmont to Sicily and from Sardinia to Emilia Romagna, see research centers opening their doors to citizens, and scientists occupying squares, gardens, halls, schools, to transform everyone into researchers, at least for one night.

To answer we will have hadronic and nuclear physicists like Giovanni Mazzitelli and Catalina Curceanu (first INFN researchers, Curceanu also on the trail of the Little Prince's planets), "social" astrophysicists like Luca Perri, ecologists like Caterina Lorenzi of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, l 'astronomer and fantasy writer Licia Troisi (with whom she also plays with the plausibility of science fiction stories). And again, astronauts like Luca Parmitano and asteroid hunters like Ian Carnelli, who will guide the European Space Agency in Frascati. And who shows liquid water on Mars? Elena Pettinelli, from Roma Tre University (representing the Italian team of researchers from Asi, Esa, Inaf, Sapienza, Roma Tre and CNR). And if that weren't enough, there are still many more of scientists ready to answer.

European Researchers' Night 2018: objective and testimonial

The goal of highlighting the incredible possibilities that science can achieve thanks to the collaboration between citizens and researchers is already the focus of the Science Week (which started on 22 September with the recruitment of new "Researchers" and scheduled until 29). , and the European Night of BEES Researchers in Frascati Scienza (28 September).

Exceptional testimonial for this edition, Piero Angela, the well-known journalist and science writer, who at 6.30 pm in Frascati will receive the Civis Tusculanus award from the mayor and president of Frascati Scienza Roberto Mastrosanti.

'Frascati is not only the City of Wine and Tuscolan Villas, but also the City of Science - declares Mastrosanti - The Tuscolana area has been characterized as one of the most important scientific research centers in Europe with the settlement on its territory of numerous research centers ".

Many sciences are scheduled in the 400 events on the calendar: biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, robotics, cutting-edge medicine, astrophysics, data science, kinetics, biology, mathematics, bio-engineering, and even games, internet, cyberbullying, proverbs, docufilms and much more: in short, there is something for everyone.

There will not only be room for curiosity but also for scientific experiences: brains and hearts, viruses and bacteria are explored; you can find yourself immersed in the mysteries in the surgery theater, learn more about vaccines, killer mosquitoes, pandemic risks, hemorrhagic fevers, laboratory rats, bees, but also fantastic animals with superpowers for super potions and magical live specimens during the trek .

European Researchers' Night 2018 at the University of Roma Tre

Moving to the University of Roma Tre, you will also see aliens

Microcosms to be explored such as those of various microorganisms even within a single drop of water, viruses, even lethal ones, bacteria, antibodies, molecules, cells, nuclear and even elementary particles.

You can dispel commonplaces, you can decide what to put in the bio-bank, learn more about piercings and tattoos, home radiation, exoskeletons and sustainable algae.

TO Explora, you play not to waste, while in Frascati, among other things, you can discover the flavor of sustainability, pay a visit to the bioeconomy village, discover sustainable nanomaterials, uncover mysteries of disappeared bananas, build nothing less than an "internet" home made.

With the Tor Vergata University, the archaeological park of Pompeii, the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, the Statistics and Census Office of the Municipality of Ariccia, GEA SCar.l., Roma Tre University and Art and Science, does geology, science of prehistory, archeology, architecture and even alien stones. Without ever forgetting planets, stars, gravitational waves and technologies from space (with the Gal Hassin Foundation, Astronomitaly, Amaldi Foundation, Lepini Astronomers Group, SpeakScience, Italian Amateur Astronomers Union.

Let us not forget Europe either: the one that finances the call of the European Researchers' Night, the one to be celebrated also in music, and also that of Eurosceptics.

Thank you for this information, but I dare to add some criticism, it seems to me that the author overdid it with the presentation of the facts, and the article turned out to be rather academic and dry.
